Made in the Philippines, molded in Copenhagen. Graduated in New York City, living in Berlin.
Since his debut album release in 1998 (Virgin Records) Andy Roda has toured around the world with his own music, as well as on tours with established Danish artists (Thomas Helmig, Safri Duo, Clemens). For more than 10 years he has been living in New York City where he learned to cultivate and broaden his skills in both the audio/visual world, driven by an insatiable curiosity to learn new things, as well as a love for the latest technology.
He credits his mentors the legendary Ashford & Simpson (Motown) and their venue “The Sugarbar” as an important role in the molding of his artistry, since this was a regular musical outlet week after week.
In 2007 Andy penned and produced songs for Star Records’ “SupahDance album” (performed by Vina Morales, Gab Valenciano, Kitty Girls and himself) for which he received a 24K Dance Award and a Gold Award. The following year, Andy was awarded by the American Scandinavian Society in New York, for his artistic excellence and musical ambassadorship between Denmark and the US.
Being part of the new breed of DIY artists (who handles everything from composition and arrangement, to performance and execution as well as packaging and distribution) these multi faceted skills has helped Andy Roda expand his production company to handle both musical, as well as visual tasks for both Danish and International companies through his labels POGIEntertainment and ::IAMGraphics::
Clients and partners include: Lifted House, Disco:Wax, SONY Music, Uniform Beat, Playground Music Scandinavia, Star Records/ABS-CBN (Philippines). Andy Roda also currently serves as Art Director and Creative Partner for media companies VillaVenire A/S and SkyMedia A/S, as well as Co-Founder and Creative Partner for the upcoming P-NOISE Danish-Filipino Arts & Music Festival 2013.
“I’m in deep appreciation to the American Scandinavian Society for acknowledging my work. The grant came at a time when I was literally in need of a helping hand to help me elevate to the next level, and just as it is in divine order, shortly after receiving the award my career right did take a big leap. As if the grant was a forecast and beautiful prelude to what was to come…” ~ Andy Roda
