Johanna Telander is a Finnish-American composer, writer and performer best known for her debut work, Kalevala, the Musical, from which selections have been showcased at the UN, The NY Scandinavian House, the Helsinki Kapsakki Theatre, and the Signature Theatre Off-Broadway.
Starting with a record deal with Universal music and the hit single Ensimmäinen Päivä in Finland in 2003, Johanna has been a part of a vast array of music projects for nearly two decades. She holds a degree in musical theater performance from The American Musical and Dramatic Academy, as well as a BA in Music in Jazz Studies, graduating Summa Cum Laude from the Capital University Conservatory of Music.
As a versatile vocalist, Johanna has performed at legendary venues such as the United Nations, the Lincoln Center, the Bitter End. One highlight in particular was a recent collaboration with the world-renown rappers Residente and Bad Bunny, with whom she performed on the Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon. As an actor and voice-over artist, she has appeared on shows including 30Rock and White Collar and has lent her voice to films such as The Fifth Estate, as well as major brands such as Volvo. In total, whether on screen or in the studio, adding her musical contributions to the soundtracks, she has collaborated on nearly fifty independent film projects.
