Icelandic violinist, Rannveig Marta Sarc, began playing the violin at age 4. After graduating from the Reykjavik Conservatory of Music, where she studied violin with Gudny Gudmundsdottir and viola with Þórunn Marinosdottir, she began her undergraduate studies at The Juilliard School as a student of Laurie Smukler. Rannveig is a prizewinner in numerous competitions such as the Iceland Symphony-Young Soloist Competition, Young Artist Competition in Zagreb and TEMSIG- Slovenian Music Competition. As a soloist, Rannveig has appeared twice with the Iceland Symphony Orchestra, Slovene Philharmonic, Reykjavik Conservatory of Music Orchestra, Bacau ‘Mihail Jora’ Philharmonic and the Iceland Youth Symphony. A passionate chamber musician, Rannveig has performed in venues such as Harpa Concert Hall in Reykjavik, Alice Tully Hall and Carnegie Hall in New York and frequently performs with Camerarctica– Chamber Music Society of Iceland. This year, Rannveig was a member of the Kahlo Quartet, as part of Juilliard’s Honors Chamber Music Program.
Rannveig Marta has appeared in music festivals such as IMS Prussia Cove, Kneisel Hall Chamber Music Festival, NAC- Young Artists Program, Sarasota Music Festival, Aspen Music Festival and the Heifetz Institute. Other teachers include Grigory Kalinovsky, Pinchas Zukerman, Patinka Kopec, Ronald Copes and Ilya Kaler.
