Join us for a very special evening of song!
Soprano Jane Thorngren and tenor Walter MacNeil will be returning to the Norwegian Seamen’s Church to present a concert Friday, February 26. The program will open with songs by great Scandinavians, then, following, there will be Neopolitan, Cabaret, and Broadway songs. To mark the bicentennial of Halfdan Kjerulf, Edvard Grieg’s predecessor, a varied group of pieces will tip the hat to this distinguished Norwegian composer. With two great songs identified with Jussi Björling: Sjöberg’s “Tonerna” and the beloved folksong “Ak, Värmeland, Du Sköna,” Walter will give the nod to that great tenor. Their extraordinary accompanist, Duane Funderburk, is being brought from Los Angeles to partner with them again.
